We’re delighted to share that our founder, Taavi Kotka, has won the 13th season of Äripäev’s opinion contest Successful Estonia with his bold and thought-provoking article “Becoming a Millionaire in the Public Sector (Without Corruption)”.
In his article, Taavi puts forward a bold idea: introducing a performance-based bonus system for public servants and NGOs, where solving nationally important and complex problems could be rewarded with significant bonuses for achieving real, measurable societal impact.
The jury called the idea a game-changer, praising both the vision and the concrete steps proposed for how such a system could be implemented.
As Taavi was delivering a keynote in Scotland during the award ceremony, the prize was later handed over to him separately. True to his commitment to meaningful impact, he announced that the €10,000 award will be donated to HK Unicorn Squad, a movement dedicated to bringing technology education to girls across Estonia.
The idea has already sparked the interest of Estonia’s Prime Minister and attracted international attention. We’re proud to see innovative thinking like this coming from within our own team – and we look forward to the discussions it will continue to inspire.
